On February 5th, 2008 - Vote 'NO' on Measure H
Take the Clover Valley Quiz!!!
Question # 1: According to the June 2007 EIR (4.9-8), 1.5 MILLION CUBIC YARDS of Earth would be graded to accomodate the streets, sidewalks, sewers and infrastructure for another 558 homes and strip mall for the proposed Clover Valley Lakes Development.
How many FOOTBALL Stadiums could MR. Oates and Mr. Massie fill with the 1.5 million CUBIC YARDS of Dirt they would be grading From Clover Valley(Think of SF 49ers Football Stadium Monster Park or Oakland Raiders Football Stadium - McAfee Coliseum - 360 Ft. Long x 120 Ft. Wide by 100 Ft Tall)????
Answer - If you said 9 Football Stadiums, you are absolutely correct. Yes, you could FILL Nine (9) Football Stadiums - 360 feet long by 120 feet wide by 100 feet tall with 1.5 million cubic yards of Pristine Clover Valley.

--Can you imagine what is going to happen to the 7,000 years of history in this valley if we allow this development and the grading of 9 Football Stadiums worth of earth?
--What about the asthma and allergy issues the people of Rocklin will have to endure if this development proceeds and the 9 Football Stadiums worth of dirt that will be spewed in the air?
--What about all that earth moving equipment and huge trucks that will have to move 9 Football Stadiums worth of soil, putting even more pollutants in the air, noise pollution and unwanted construction traffic to our city?
--What will happen to the wildlife and oak trees when 1.5 million cubic yards of earth is being displaced? How will the ecology of the valley be affected?
--With the removal of 1.5 million Cubic Yards of earth, what about the instability of the steep hillsides within Clover Valley and the possible flooding issue this could cause? The Developer's own EIR indicates:
"the proposed grading activities required for the construction of
the major roadways would create deep cuts and high side slopes along these
roadways. Therefore, the construction activities related to the approval of the
proposed project would result in a high risk of slope instability. In addition,
slopes associated with the grading activities necessary for the Small Lot
Tentative Subdivision Map may also increase slope stability impacts."

Question #2: If the proposed development in Clover Valley is built, a Highway (Valley View Parkway) will be constructed that will bring 14,000 cars a day into Rocklin streets and neighborhoods. How many Mature Oak Trees will be CUT down to build Valley View Parkway?
Answer - The Construction of Valley View Parkway will CUT DOWN 1,632 Mature Oaks. And in exchange this HIGHWAY will Carry 14,000 CARS a DAY onto the Streets and Neighborhoods of Rocklin bringing Traffic Gridlock, Pollution and Traffic Safety Issues. The Destruction of 1,632 Mature Oaks is a terrible price to pay for a highway that will bring an additional 14,000 cars a day into our city.

Question #4: What is the benefit to the people of Rocklin and our reqion in saving 7,400 mature oak trees?
Answer -
--7,400 mature oak trees REMOVE 370 tons of CO2 (740,000 pounds of CO2) per year from the air we breathe in Rocklin.
--7400 mature oak trees REMOVE about 74,00 lbs of pollutants per year, including:
--29,600 lbs of ozone
--22,200 lbs of particulates
Imagine adding 370 tons of CO2 and 29,600 lbs of ozone to the air we breath by cutting down 7,400 mature oak trees.....
Imagine the pollution generated by 14,000 more cars a day that this development would bring with the contruction of Valley View Parkway
--14,000 cars a year will add over 20 Million pounds of Carbon (CO2) a year into the air we breathe in Rocklin.
--14,000 cars a day will add over 57,000 pounds of Carbon (CO2) a DAY into the air we breathe in Rocklin
Note: This estimate is VERY Conservative - 1 car travels 5 miles a day or 1825 miles per year thru Rocklin and gets 25 MPG - See EPA Carbon Calculator - web site -
