The
building of 800 homes for the proposed development of Clover Valley
Lakes will require an additional Off-Site Sewer Line. Because existing Sewer Lines can accommodate
only 180 more new homes, a new sewer line will have to be built. Here is the projected impact to our
neighborhood and the streets of Rawhide, Clover Valley, Midas ,Argonaut and
Union:
Ø
9000 Linear Feet of Sewer Line (1.7 miles) to be installed ripping a 10’ wide by 12’ deep trench in the
Streets of:
o
Rawhide
o
Midas
o
Argonaut
o
Union
According to the Environmental
Impact Report, prepared for the The City of
Rocklin the new sewer line will:
“Disrupt the daily routines of residents” and the “impact (of the new sewer lines) would be considered SIGNIFICANT”.
“The
anticipated duration of the
construction activities would be 90 to 180 WORKING days” (4.5 MONTHS to 9 MONTHS). The
report also indicates the construction duration is “dependent on
factors including the weather and unforeseen
obstructions such as impenetrable rock layers”.
“The
Development phase of the proposed sewer-line extension would be expected to
produce SUBSTANTIAL NOISE during
construction hours. Therefore, the impact would be considered SIGNIFICANT”
“Blasting would
potentially become necessary if impenetrable rock layers are found”.
“The impact of
the proposed (sewer) project on local transportation would
be considered SIGNIFICANT”.
“The construction within
Clover Valley Creek, Antelope Creek and associated riparian areas would
unavoidably loosen soil particles and therefore result in a temporary increase
in siltation of the creek and downstream waterways” causing erosion and possible
flooding for the people living on Rawhide, Clover Valley and Midas.
The impact of building the new sewer line would “potentially damage the
ecosystem in the valley”.
Clover Valley Park will be torn up to add this sewer line, destroying several oaks and other trees and plants.
The Sewer Line will cross the
creek “several
times”. Private property owners could have some of their trees and shrubs removed from their property to
accomidate for this sewer line.
The
building of less than 180 homes in Clover Valley, instead of 800 homes,
would eliminate the sewer line that would have to be constructed
in our neighborhood. Please call the mayor and city council members and let
them know how you feel.
Our vision of Clover Valley: A preserve, a living-California museum model (Geological, Ecological, Anthropological, Historical), with non-invasive, very low impact trail systems with interpretive stations and educational components. Rocklin will earn revenue from tourist dollars, its property values will soar and we will have pride in a city that was able to balance growth and the preservation of special places like Clover Valley.
